Manage Gift Certificates #
Gift Certificates can be used by the customer to pay for items in the store. They should be used by customer support representatives to give to customers when a delivery is damaged or possibly to appeal to an unhappy customer. Gift Certificates hold a balance and therefore can be used more than once as long as a balance remains. They also do not require a purchase to be generated for the customer; it is a more manual process than the Gift Cards feature. The Gift Cards feature uses a gift certificate generated code.
Add/Edit Gift Certificate #
| Field | Description |

| Amount | The total funds the customer will receive from the certificate.Note: A certificate can be used multiple times as long as there is a remaining balance amount. |
| Description | Enter a brief description about the certificate, such as who is receiving it and the amount. |
| Start/Expiry Date | This is the timeframe in which the certificates will be available. |
| Multi-Store Gift Certificates | If the gift certificate is to be usable on other available stores in the system, select this option. |
| Generate Code | Press the generate button to generate a random code for the customer. This code will be entered by the customer at checkout to receive the discount from their total amount. If the code has been given to a customer and the Amount is changed, that customer’s certificate will update with the correct amount. The gift certificate code can only be used by one customer. The first customer that uses the generated code is the customer that the gift certificate is locked to.Note: After certificates have been given out, changes can still be made to existing certificates.
