Overview #
Basket additions is a marketing feature where the shopper adds a product to the basket and an additional product gets automatically added to the basket. This is useful in scenarios where the additional product is a catalog to use the main product. It could also be some non shippable service that can be used along with the new product that the shopper would likely need.
Basket Additions #
- Go to Marketing.
- Click Basket Additions.
- Click Add.
- Click Update and Ok to save settings.
Note: To test the feature, go to the shop and add to cart the product for which you set up the basket addition. On the basket page you should see both products.
There will be a ‘when shopper adds to cart:’ section that lets you define the conditions when basket addition happens. As from the drop down menu, you can set up a basket addition in the event of
- A specific item being added to the basket
- Items from a specific category being added to basket
- Items of a specific sys_product_type value being added to basket
- any item other than the specified item being added to basket
Option 1 would be a common approach where you add 1 product and the additional product gets added to basket. Option 2 will be particularly useful in scenarios where you have different catalogs for each category of items and you need to add a specific catalog for products belonging to a specific category. Options 3 and 4 are also useful in different scenarios.
The ‘Also add:’ section is where you specify the additional product that gets added to the basket. The Quantity column lets you set the quantity of this item that needs to be added.
The Limit To option section lets you limit this feature to shoppers who belong to a specific shopper group or have a specific offercode value set. You can also limit this to shoppers who do not have an offercode value or shopper group set.
Once the conditions have been defined and the limits set, make sure the Active check box is checked and click Ok to save settings. On the Manage Basket Additions page, you should now see the basket addition you just set up. To test the feature, got to the shop and add to cart the product for which you set up the basket addition. On the basket page you should see both products.
